There’s nothing that will start your party faster than a fantastic band.  We love working with the super-talented (and super nice!) Walton Stout Band!  Bill Aaron Dowling, the owner and creator of The Walton Stout Band, graciously took a few minutes to chat with us about this amazing Dallas wedding band.  Keep reading for the whole story!

When and how did you get into the wedding industry?

Music was my first love – I’ve been playing guitar and singing since I was ten years old.  I started The Walton Stout Band when I was seventeen years old. After seven years of performing and building the band, we performed at our first wedding reception in 2008.

My love for entertaining also turned into a passion for our wedding couples. We help create memories that will help sustain relationships through “better or worse.” I love to say that if you can always think of your spouse the way you did on your wedding night you will stay together forever.

Where are you based and where do you meet with clients?

We believe it’s very important to start to get to know our couples as soon as they become our clients. We will schedule a planning meeting with them in a convenient location in the Dallas area to solidify our set list and match it up with their agenda. Many times we will actually help create the time line for the reception. We will include all the information on our set list so we can emcee the evening and make sure everything goes perfectly! It’s also much more enjoyable and intimate for everyone when you know the people in the band truly care about you in a personal way.

We now have hundreds of married couples and still follow them and stay in touch. At our annual New Year’s Eve party, half the room of seven hundred people erupted when I ask how many had participated in a wedding with us!

Describe your favorite type of client.

In the almost eight years since our first wedding, we have never met a difficult bride or groom. We have sent each and every one of them off with lots of positive energy for a long and happy life together. I know that sounds a little hard to believe but it’s absolutely true! It’s simply a matter of becoming an advocate for our clients and their needs. You don’t get a second chance at this.

What are some of the best compliments you’ve received from your clients?

It is wonderful when we get reports that the music was amazing and the attention to detail and genuine passion for what we do is acknowledged! That is why we do this. It is our life-long endeavor created out of a passion for music and service.

Do you have a funny story to share about a previous event?

I can think of some funny stories but the most amazing thing to me was the time I learned a song to sing for the groom’s grandmother. Her name was Deloris. Her husband had recently passed after many decades of marriage. After the song, I had a chat with Deloris. I will never forget her and the thought that crossed my mind about how she felt when she first heard this song many, many years ago.  This is the stuff of which movies are made. What a privilege it is to be a part of it all.
