We’ve worked with Stone Crest Venue many times, with clients that fell in love with the venue like we did, and we wanted to share a bit about it with you. From every direction there is a breath taking view when you are at Stone Crest. The venue is located just 5 miles east from downtown McKinney but you feel like you are transported to another place when you are there. They have an outdoor ceremony site with the big open sky as a backdrop. Their indoor reception space feels intimate and inviting just like home but can hold up to 275 guests. Linda Cottam, owner of Stone Crest, shared some history and stories with us.

When and how did you get into the wedding industry?

The whole process and idea started with the property.  We found the location in 2014…It was 23 acres with an old rock quarry that had been for sale for some time and we loved it from the moment we saw it.  The view from the highest point was breathtaking and had a Hill Country feel to it that was rare for the McKinney area.  We felt that this might be the perfect site to start a business in Collin County, one of the fastest growing counties in the nation.

After extensive market research, we arrived on the idea of an event venue. There was a need for an event center large enough to hold 275 people.  We wanted a family business where people could come and enjoy the awesome view and sunsets. The next step was to design a beautiful building that would offer the warmth and charm of a rustic lodge but also incorporate a modern appeal to the design.

What makes you different at what you do?

What makes us different than other venues is that we are completely family owned and operated.  Translated that means we take pride and care in everything that occurs at Stone Crest Venue and we strive to make every event the absolute best for our clients and their guests.

What are some of the best compliments you’ve received from your clients?

The comment we hear most from our clients is about how beautiful the view is!  We also hear that they love the modern/rustic feel and the “lodge” style design of Stone Crest Venue.  Some of the greatest compliments are in regards to how kind and helpful our Stone Crest family is…that is the ultimate compliment because that is our ultimate goal.  Stone Crest Venue is truly a labor of love for our family and we hope that shows in all that we say and do.

Do you have a funny story to share about a previous encounter?

A couple recently came in as excited as can be that they found their venue and started planning their whole wedding during the tour.  The future groom was pondering who to use as the ring-bearer and mentioned “Jeffrey” as an option. The bride to be just patted him on the back and said, “Honey, Jeffrey is now 17.”
