One of our favorite wedding venues in Dallas is the landmark Belo Mansion & Pavilion. It combines the best of historic Dallas with modern tastes for an elegant, at home wedding. We chatted with Dawn Finley about some of the Belo’s highlights!

Tell us about the history of the Belo Mansion & Pavilion.
The Belo Mansion is the former home of the family of A.H. Belo, the founder of the Dallas Morning News and a Southern officer during the Civil War. In 1978, the Dallas Bar Association purchased the property from the Belo family and began a year-long restoration and remodel to bring it back to its former glory. The Belo Mansion opened to Dallas Bar Association members in 1979.
As a gathering place for both lawyers and the community, it proved immensely popular, leading to the expansion of the facility with the addition of the Pavilion ballroom in the early 2000s. It’s a treasured piece of Dallas architecture and history!

Why do you think couples choose the Belo Mansion as their venue?
Belo couples share a vision of traditional elegance, sophisticated cuisine, and a unique refined atmosphere. Whether they choose to hold their events in the historic mansion, the modern pavilion, or both, there’s plenty of room for their guests to be wined and dined before dancing the night away. The Belo Mansion has beautiful stately columns, a grand carriage entrance, and a winding staircase. The Pavilion Ballroom is spacious with floor to ceiling windows, vaulted ceilings, and a lovely terrace with breathtaking views of the downtown skyline. We truly represent the best of the past and present.

What makes the Belo Mansion different from other venues?
We offer couples the opportunity to have an event in the historic mansion, the contemporary pavilion, or both spaces for the best of all worlds. Because we have such a spacious venue, a couple can spend the day here and get ready on site, taking photos on the grounds, and enjoying their ceremony and reception in the heart of downtown Dallas. Our in-house caterer, Culinaire, prepares all of the food on site so that guests get the best culinary experience possible. We also provide a number of key amenities, so the couple doesn’t have to worry about bringing anything in unless they want to add a little unique flair to their day. From tables and chairs to china and silverware to staging and the dance floor, the Belo Mansion can provide everything needed for a great party!

What is a sweet story you’d like to share?
We have had several families that have had multiple family members’ weddings at the Belo. One of our favorite families had the parents’ wedding here, as well as all three daughters. Someday, we hope to see the grandchildren of the original couple getting married here to carry on the family tradition! We’re steeped in tradition, and we love being a part of an entire family’s wedding memories.
