The Frontiers of Flight Museum was the perfect place for pilot Judd & his bride Linda to say their vows and celebrate their marriage. With a rich history of aviation on display for their guests, plus fun elements of lighting and music, it represented the perfect mix of tradition with a modern twist. We were able to use the beautiful planes and museum elements, along with some key draping and lighting elements to help define the spaces chosen for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception.

The Ceremony

The white draping was key for framing the ceremony and creating a beautiful and romantic backdrop for the couple to say their vows. The bright floral arrangements appeared to float on the clear, acrylic pillars that stood at the end of the aisle, framing the couple and drawing all attention to them. With the uplighting on the draping and floating candles down the aisle, it created a romantic and intimate atmosphere.

The Reception

With the airplanes surrounding the reception, there wasn’t a boring view from any angle. A variety of centerpieces adorned the tables including sophisticated, tall floral pieces, low and lush arrangements, and candles in abundance. The yellow and classic white floral arrangements with pops of deep burgundy and light blue really stood out among a room full of eye-catching displays. The glass chargers with silver detail and silver script table numbers were the layers needed to add that extra detail to take the decor to the next level. A silver glitter dance floor was brought in and string lights were brought in to define the party space and add a little bling to the evening.

We had fun with the aviation theme by using a custom flight log book that served as the guestbook and paper airplanes as escort cards.

The Details

Remembering the ones you love is important to most people at significant events. Judd & Linda chose to have framed pictures of loved ones with escort cards for them on the guest book table to signify they were there in spirit. Items of remembrance are often tied to the bride’s bouquet and Linda chose to add her late dog’s collar so they could also be honored and remembered at the event.

Dr. Pepper is a passion for Judd and it found it’s way into a few pictures. The first was on the car the ring bearer was “driving” down the aisle – the cans were attached to the back of the car as if it was the getaway car. They were also attached to the the actual getaway car for the couple, a vintage Volkswagen Bug that Judd’s father has restored. A photo of the bride and groom holding cans of Dr. Pepper was also a must!

Tradition can add a sweet element to an already special day. It is tradition in this family to have homemade Italian wedding cookies mounded on a tray near the wedding cake. To say these colorful, delicious cookies were a hit and disappeared quickly would be an understatement.
