We love working with Laurie Johnson of Premier Transportation. When we asked her to answer some questions, she was happy to share with you all the in’s and out’s of helping get a couple, the wedding party, or a whole slew of family and friends to and/or from the big event!
When should couples book transportation for their weddings and does it matter what type of transportation?
It’s always good to book transportation at least 3 months in advance. For busy wedding times, like spring and fall, booking 6 months in advance is the best plan. This is especially important for larger and specialty vehicles, like shuttle buses and limousines.

What should couples consider when choosing what type of transportation for their guests?
When looking at guest transportation, plan for the maximum number of seats you think you’ll need. For example, if you’re inviting 100 out of town guests, book 2 large 56 passenger buses or 3 smaller 32 passenger buses. If your final guest count goes down, it’s easier to cancel a bus than to find an extra bus on short notice.
What common mistakes do you see couples make when booking transportation and how can they prevent that?
A common mistake that couples make is to wait too long to budget for transportation and to book it. Be sure to get some transportation quotes during your initial budget planning process, so you can plan your spending correctly. You don’t want to be surprised by the cost of transportation just weeks before your event. Book your transportation at least 3 months in advance.

What differentiates Premier from other transportation companies in the DFW area?
Premier is the largest transportation provider in North Texas, and one of the largest in the country. That means we have more vehicles to choose from, highly trained chauffeurs and staff, and reliable and professional service. We comply with all insurance requirements and all federal regulations regarding our chauffeurs and our vehicles. We are not the cheapest provider, nor do we try to be. We strive to provide high quality service at a reasonable price.
Do you have any advice to share with our readers?
One interesting thing we see is from clients who find a “great deal” from another provider. Unfortunately, some providers offer super low rates but, if they should get a better offer from another client, they will cancel on the first client. I’ve had more than one call from a wedding client just a few days before the wedding, frantic to find a limo or a bus because their initial provider cancelled on them. I always encourage clients to check Yelp or the Better Business Bureau to make sure they choose a reputable vendor. As with most things , if the price sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
