We’ll just say it – we *adore* today’s spotlight, Candlelight Films. Clint and Lauren create some of the prettiest, happiest, cleanest, best edited wedding videos that we get to see. They’re kind of the cat’s pajamas, folks. Keep reading to get their story, straight from Clint!
When and how did you get into the wedding industry?
Lauren worked in reality TV in LA on shows like “Bridezillas” and “A Baby Story”. Clint did photography and media for several start-ups here in Dallas. We joined forces, Clint taught Lauren how to work a DSLR camera and Lauren taught Clint how to make a story out of his photos. Candlelight Films has been in business for five years now!
Where are you based, and where do you meet with clients?
We traded our lofty/trendy downtown offices for two kids and new construction in McKinney. 🙂 We meet over the phone, Skype, coffee, drinks and just about everywhere else.
Describe your favorite type of client.
Our favorite clients are those who, on a scale of 1-10, love each other at an 11. We just love being around love and couples who aren’t afraid to express it. That joy and excitement is so contagious and it comes across in video. We’ll take story, emotion and meaning over details and stuff any day.
What makes you different at what you do?
The mix of a photography background and a story editing background really sets us up for success. We’re a good mix of manly and girly, artsy and calculated, funny and sweet. It takes those backgrounds and personalities to walk that fine line of class vs. humor vs. fun vs. intimate to create an entre piece that appeals to everyone from Grandpa down to the Flower Girl.
Why do you think your clients hire you?
I think they hire us because they trust us to take what they’re feeling (which is sometimes vastly different than what it actually was like) and turn it into a physical thing that they can see, hear, pass down to their kids and say, “This is what true love looks like, don’t settle for anything less.”
What do you love most about weddings?
I’ve started to love the tiny things about weddings… the “I’m done” tap that girls always give each other after fixing something, the groom discreetly fiddling with his ring because it finally gets to wear it, grandma and grandpa holding hands remembering their wedding day…
