How did you get into the wedding industry?
After several years of second shooting, a good friend of Chrys’ was getting married and wanted to hire us as her wedding photographers. We were excited about the opportunity but nervous to have our first contracted client. Several gradual years of weddings and events eventually led to us establishing a good network of vendor friends and clientele that helped formed our business in 2007.
Where are you based and where do you meet with clients?
We share studio space at Studio 2524 in the Design District of Dallas.
Describe your favorite type of client.
We are drawn to a fine art approach to wedding styling and love outdoor/garden weddings. Since we love to shoot film we also enjoy working with clients who appreciate that medium.
What makes you different at what you do?
I’m not sure if it can be considered different but one thing we emphasize is capturing genuine moments. We love to capture reactions in the crowd during a ceremony or reception. We love when we spot a mother crying during a first dance and can snap that memory for the family. We are big into family and make that a priority throughout the day.
What do you love most about weddings?
We love to see families coming together for a night and becoming one. We always see in-laws dancing together with aunts and uncles from different families. For many families, it’s a once in a lifetime gathering. What better way to come together than for a night filled with dancing, good food and lots of love!
Do you have a funny story to share about a previous event?
Our favorite moment was when we photographed a wedding for the daughter of a photographer. Dad interrogated us all night. Well, as he walked his daughter down the aisle (it was at Belmont), he took a photo of us photographing them. It made us laugh thinking if we would ever do the same thing in the future with our daughter.
